Born to share a screen.

The Nanny

15. The Nanny (1993–1999)

A heavy Queens accent walking into a Manhattan mansion should not have worked as well as it did. Fran Drescher's Fran Fine and the stiff Mr. Sheffield had zero business being funny together, which is exactly why it landed every time. Niles and C.C.'s running feud gave the show its sharpest edges, a servant and a socialite trading insults like a blood sport. The Nanny stayed ridiculous for six seasons without ever losing its warmth underneath all that laughter. | © CBS

14. Full House (1987–1995)

Three grown men raising three little girls in San Francisco sounds like a setup for chaos, and sometimes it was. What held Full House together was how easily Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier settled into being an actual family unit on screen. Danny's neat freak energy, Jesse's leather jacket cool, Joey's goofy voices, none of it clashed because the affection underneath was always real. Every episode ended in a hug for a reason, and somehow it never got old. | © ABC
Will Grace

13. Will & Grace (1998–2006)

Jack McFarland bursting into Grace's apartment unannounced became a kind of punctuation mark for the whole series. Eric McCormack and Debra Messing played best friends with a lived-in ease, but it was Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally who turned Will & Grace into something electric. Karen's drawl and Jack's full-body theatrics bounced off each other like they'd been doing it for decades before the cameras rolled. New York sitcoms rarely felt this loose or this fast. | © NBC
Everybody Loves Raymond

12. Everybody Loves Raymond (1996–2005)

Ray Barone could barely finish dinner without his parents walking in uninvited. That intrusion was the whole engine of Everybody Loves Raymond, with Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle treating their grown son's house like an extension of their own. Patricia Heaton's Debra carried the exhaustion of marrying into that chaos, and her scenes with Roberts crackled with real tension. Brad Garrett's Robert, forever the overlooked brother, rounded out a family that felt uncomfortably familiar to anyone with nosy relatives. | © CBS
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

11. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990–1996)

A kid from West Philadelphia lands in a mansion full of strangers, and somehow they all become family within a season. Will Smith's energy needed something to crash against, and James Avery's stern, dignified Uncle Phil gave him exactly that. Their arguments could turn funny on a dime and serious just as fast, including one scene about an absent father that still stops the show cold. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air made culture clash look like the easiest thing in the world. | © NBC
How i met your mother

10. How I Met Your Mother (2005–2014)

Nine years of flashbacks, and somehow the gang never once felt like they were just waiting for the finale reveal. How I Met Your Mother built its chemistry on arguments as much as affection, with Barney and Marshall's running bets and Lily's refusal to let anyone off the hook. The MacLaren's booth scenes worked because the cast treated bad decisions like sacred rituals. Ted's storytelling framed it all, but the group dynamic is what kept people coming back. | © CBS
Gilmore Girls

9. Gilmore Girls (2000–2007)

Fast talking runs in the Gilmore family, and Lorelai and Rory traded lines like they'd been rehearsing since birth. Gilmore Girls leaned on that rhythm so hard it became its own language, full of pop culture references nobody outside Stars Hollow could keep up with. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel played mother and daughter like actual friends, not a sitcom version of the relationship. Their diner booth with Luke in the background said more about family than most shows manage in a season. | © The CW
Big Bang Theory The Stockholm Syndrome

8. The Big Bang Theory (2007–2019)

Four physicists and a waitress from across the hall should not have worked this well together. The Big Bang Theory found its footing once Penny started treating Sheldon's rules like background noise instead of law. Sheldon and Leonard's apartment became a pressure cooker of comic books, whiteboards, and roommate agreements nobody else would tolerate. By the time Amy and Bernadette joined the group, the whole thing felt like a family built entirely out of inside jokes. | © Warner Bros. Television
Modern Family

7. Modern Family (2009–2020)

One fake documentary crew, three families, and somehow every single pairing on Modern Family landed. Phil Dunphy's earnestness bounced perfectly off Claire's exhaustion, while Cam and Mitchell turned sibling rivalry with Jay into something almost tender. Sofia Vergara's Gloria cut through every scene like she owned the room, because she basically did. Eleven years in, the Pritchett-Dunphy clan still felt like people you'd actually want at your dinner table. | © ABC
Brooklyn Nine Nine

6. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013–2021)

Precinct 99 ran on chaos, and Jake Peralta made sure there was always more of it. Brooklyn Nine-Nine paired him against Amy Santiago's color coded binders until their bickering turned into something genuinely sweet. Terry Jeffords yelling about yogurt, Rosa Diaz's death stares, Captain Holt's deadpan delivery, none of it should have blended into one tone, but it did every time. Nine seasons later, the Halloween heist episodes alone proved this cast could turn absurdity into an art form. | © NBC / Fox
Cheers

5. Cheers (1982–1993)

Everybody knew everybody's name at the bar in Cheers, and that was kind of the whole pitch. Sam and Diane bickered their way through sexual tension so thick it carried entire seasons. Cliff and Norm held down their stools like furniture, trading insults with Coach and later Woody. Eleven years in a single room, and the show never once ran out of reasons to keep people there. | © NBC
The Office

4. The Office (2005–2013)

Steve Carell's Michael Scott walked into a room wanting to be loved more than respected. That desperation set the tone for the entire Dunder Mifflin office, awkward and strangely tender in equal measure. Jim and Pam's glances across the room turned a mockumentary gimmick into something people actually waited for. Even after Carell left, Dwight, Andy, and the rest kept the chemistry from collapsing entirely. | © NBC
Seinfeld

3. Seinfeld (1989–1998)

What does a show about nothing actually run on? Four people who can turn a parking garage or a soup line into twenty minutes of pure friction. Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer bounced off each other with the timing of a band that had been playing together for years. Their selfishness was the joke, and somehow that made them easier to love, not harder. | © NBC
Empty Nest from The Golden Girls

2. The Golden Girls (1985–1992)

Four women in their golden years, sharing cheesecake at midnight, solved more about friendship than shows twice as serious. Blanche's flirting, Rose's rambling St. Olaf stories, Dorothy's dry put downs, and Sophia's one liners worked like a machine built for laughs. Bea Arthur and Betty White traded barbs with a rhythm that never once felt rehearsed. The Golden Girls proved getting older on screen could still mean getting the best lines in the room. | © NBC
Friends

1. Friends (1994–2004)

Central Perk's orange couch held six people who somehow felt like your own friends by the second episode. Ross and Rachel took up most of the emotional airtime, but Monica's control issues and Chandler's deflecting jokes gave the group its real texture. Joey and Phoebe filled in the gaps with the kind of chemistry that can't really be written, only cast right. Friends ran for ten years on a formula that never needed much more than six people in a room talking. | © NBC
