Some cancellations never stop stinging, the shows that ended too soon and left a gap nothing else has quite filled. Here are 15 TV shows we still wish were on air.

15 Video Games That Bankrupted Their Creators
15. Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990-2000)
Zip codes were not supposed to carry this much weight before Beverly Hills, 90210 made 90210 sound like a personality trait. Brenda, Kelly, and Dylan turned a high school parking lot into the center of the universe for an entire decade of teenagers. The show did not just cover prom and breakups, it treated every one of them like a national event. Nothing since has made growing up in California look quite so mythical. | © Fox
14. Who's the Boss? (1984-1992)
Tony Micelli mopped floors for a living and somehow became one of the most quietly progressive dads on television. Who's the Boss? flipped the housekeeper setup on its head just by making him the one doing the cooking and the worrying. Angela ran the office, Tony ran the home, and nobody on the show ever treated that as a punchline worth dwelling on. It made switched roles feel completely unremarkable, which back then was actually the radical part. | © ABC
13. The Nanny (1993-1999)
Fran Fine walked into a mansion wearing the wrong outfit for the room and immediately made it the right one. The Nanny ran entirely on that friction, a loud Queens accent bouncing off a house full of quiet British reserve. Her laugh alone could end a scene better than most punchlines. The show understood that class comedy works best when nobody involved actually feels ashamed of where they came from. | © CBS
12. Castle (2009-2016)
A writer with no real authority tagging along on police investigations should not have worked as well as Castle made it look. Nathan Fillion brought enough charm to make Richard Castle's constant meddling feel earned instead of annoying. Every case came wrapped in banter with Kate Beckett that mattered more than the mystery itself. It is one of the rare procedurals where the chemistry outlasted the crime of the week. | © ABC
11. Moonlighting (1985-1989)
Bickering had never looked this good on television until David and Maddie started doing it on Moonlighting. Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd threw dialogue at each other so fast the actual detective plots became secondary. Entire episodes lived or died on whether the two leads could out talk one another. That kind of rhythm is hard to fake, and television has been chasing it ever since. | © ABC
10. Murder, She Wrote (1984-1996)
A typewriter and a bicycle were basically all Jessica Fletcher needed to solve twelve murders a season. Murder, She Wrote never dressed up its violence with gore or shock value, it just handed the puzzle to a mystery novelist from Cabot Cove and let her out-think everyone in the room. Angela Lansbury played her with so much brisk warmth that even the killers seemed a little sorry to disappoint her. Somehow a show built entirely around dead bodies ended up feeling cozy. | © CBS
9. The Waltons (1972-1981)
Depression-era Virginia does not sound like prime time entertainment, and yet The Waltons made a family scraping by on a mountain feel like appointment viewing. Every episode closed with those goodnights called out through the dark, John-Boy's voice landing last. Money was tight and the war was coming, but nobody on that show ever mistook hardship for misery. It made patience and family loyalty look like the most interesting thing on television. | © CBS
8. Touched by an Angel (1994-2003)
An angel named Monica kept showing up in strangers' worst moments, and somehow that premise carried Touched by an Angel for nine seasons. Roma Downey played her with a calm that never tipped into saccharine, even when the show was asking viewers to cry on cue. Della Reese's Tess brought the sternness that kept the whole thing from floating away completely. Network television rarely bets this hard on sincerity, and for a while, the bet paid off. | © CBS
7. Brothers & Sisters (2006-2011)
Five siblings, one dead father, and enough buried resentment to fuel five seasons, that's the entire engine behind Brothers & Sisters. The Walker family fought at the dinner table the way real families do, loud, messy, and never quite finished. Sally Field and Rachel Griffiths anchored the chaos without ever making it feel performed. It understood that the people who annoy you most are usually the ones you'd fight hardest for. | © ABC
6. Knots Landing (1979-1993)
Cul-de-sac drama got no better than Seaview Circle, where Knots Landing spent fourteen years proving suburbs could hide as much scandal as any oil empire. It started as a quieter spinoff of Dallas and ended up outliving it, trading boardrooms for backyards and somehow finding just as much betrayal there. Gary Ewing's mess of a life gave the show its center, but the neighbors around him were never far behind in the chaos. Turns out you don't need oil money to ruin a marriage on television. | © CBS
5. Dallas (1978-1991)
J.R. Ewing did not just scheme his way through oil deals, he made betrayal look like a hobby worth having. Dallas turned Southfork Ranch into the place every office watercooler conversation circled back to on Monday mornings. The show figured out early that rich people behaving badly never gets old if the writing stays sharp. Whole seasons got wiped out by a shower scene, and somehow that made people love it more. | © CBS
4. The Golden Girls (1985-1992)
Four women in Miami split a cheesecake at midnight and somehow that became one of the most comforting images on television. The Golden Girls let Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia talk about sex, death, and loneliness without softening any of it. Age was never treated as a problem to solve or a joke to apologize for. The show trusted that older women could be funny, messy, and completely unfiltered, and it never once flinched from that idea. | © NBC
3. Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993-1998)
Colorado Springs in the 1860s gets a woman doctor nobody asked for and most of the town does not know what to do with her. Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman spent its runtime proving that Michaela's medical training mattered more than her gender, one stubborn patient at a time. Jane Seymour played her with a calm that never tipped into saintly. The frontier setting gave the show room to tackle real issues without ever losing its warmth. | © CBS
2. Little House on the Prairie (1974-1983)
Charles Ingalls walking home across the prairie became one of the most recognizable openings in television history. Little House on the Prairie did not shy away from hardship, it built entire episodes around blindness, poverty, and loss. Yet the Ingalls family always found their way back to the dinner table together. Few shows have made resilience feel this quiet and this earned. | © NBC
1. Desperate Housewives (2004-2012)
Wisteria Lane hid more bodies, affairs, and secrets than any cul-de-sac has a right to. Desperate Housewives ran on Mary Alice Young's narration from beyond the grave, which somehow made suburban gossip feel like true crime. Susan, Lynette, Bree, and Gabrielle each got to be funny and completely unhinged in totally different ways. The show proved that perfect lawns are usually hiding the messiest lives. | © ABCSome cancellations never stop stinging, the shows that ended too soon and left a gap nothing else has quite filled.
