Ze Pug Godz, a squad containing the likes of Spencer “Hiko” Martin and Bradley “ANDROID” Fodor, qualified out of the second North American ESL One Rio open qualifier and into the closed qualifier.

Hiko and Android move on to the closed qualifier

The two veterans teamed up with Christopher “cj” Jones, Noah “ULTRA” Giesbrecht and Jason “neptune” Tran for this qualifier under the Ze Pug Godz moniker. The addition of neptune seemed to make all the difference as thee pug divine creatures had quickly flamed out in the first open qualifier when Derrick “LILMAN” Boyne was their fifth man.

Ze Pug Godz eliminated Orgless, New England Whalers, and Team Prospects in comfortable Bo1 series before handling Team Divine in the Bo3 decider. Canadians LiViD Gaming also made their way into the closed qualifier. They dealt Polar Ace South a 16-13 defeat in the Round of 32, eliminated Faint Gaming and Mythic in their next two Bo1s and completed the full circle with a 2-0 win in the final versus Polar Ace North.

Ze Pug Godz and LiViD Gaming follow in the footsteps of Team Envy and Rugratz who qualified from open qualifier No. 1. Two more open qualifiers are yet to be played: one this weekend, on February 8-9, and one next week – on February 12-13. The North American closed qualifier is set for March 6-8.
