IEM New York is ready to start, and we thought a brief reminder of what's to come in the European section of the tournament is a good idea. In short, eight teams will be in the running for a chunk of the $140,000 allocated to the region.
IEM New York 2020 kicks off tomorrow, October 6 and, as it is customary in these dark times, it will be held entirely online. A total of eight teams will compete until Sunday for a prize pool of $140,000. Besides, the 6 directly invited teams are Heroic and OG, who emerged from the closed qualifiers.
IEM New York Group Stage
The contestants are divided into two groups of four:
Group A
- Team Vitality
- G2 Esports
- Fnatic
- Complexity Gaming
Group B
- BIG Clan
- FaCe clan
- Heroic
- OG
IEM New York Format
The group phase is played in a double-elimination Bo3 format. The top two teams in each group qualify for the playoffs. The semifinals will take place on Saturday and the Grand Final on Sunday. The last match of the week will be in a Bo5 format much to the pleasure of everyone watching.
