Five League Legends Who Retired in 2020

1-5

The greats that waved goodbye in 2020

Sabrina Ahn Sabrina Ahn
League of Legends -
Flame Fly Quest

5. Lee "Flame" Ho-Jong: Flame started off his career back in 2012. He was part of Azubu Blaze, quickly moving on to CJ Entus where he made quite a name for himself. He will forever be immortalized with the saying 'Flame Horizon', which means being up by 100 CS against one's lane opponent. | © Riot Games

Smeb KT Rolster

4. Song "Smeb" Kyoung-Ho: Everyone remembers that insane Kennen ult from the 2016 World Championships, right? Well, Smeb made many incredible plays, being one of the most dominant players in the LCK for years on end. His stint with the Koo/Rox Tigers will never be forgotten. | © Riot Games

Bjerg2a

3. Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg: Once a hot prospect in Europe, the Dane was one of the first high-profile players to move to North America - and the first to be a massive success. Bjergsen has been a one-man dynasty at TSM, the one constant in multiple roster shuffles. He has been one of the most successful players in the region over multiple years and in 2020, led the team to once more take the LCS crown. TSM returned to Worlds - but a poor performance there left a sour taste in everyone's mouth. That likely played a role in Bjergsen deciding to switch to a coaching role, leaving TSM looking for a mid laner for the first time in seven years. | © Riot Games

Doublelift Finals

2. Yiliang Peter "Doublelift" Peng: NA’s most famous AD carry and prodigal son, Doublelift, has been one of the big Western stars since season two. A player as famous for his impeccable mechanics, as he was controversial for his big mouth, he made a name for himself on CLG before going to arch-rival TSM. It was there and during his later stint at the star-studded Team Liquid roster that Doublelift found the titles that had mostly eluded him on CLG and cemented his legacy as the most successful North American player. Yet, like his TSM partner Bjergsen, Doublelift hung his mouse after a disappointing Worlds performance, leaving the LCS without its probably most memorable superstar. | © Riot Games

Uzi2312

1. Jian "Uzi" Zi-Hao: With a career spanning the better part of eight years, Uzi has left his mark on the game as likely the best AD Carry player in League of Legends’ history. The Chinese prodigy rose to fame in the 2013 World Championship, where he put a clinic on Vayne and wowed analysts, and he just kept on delivering standout performances year after year. Notoriously demanding, he often required the team to play around him - and he paid them back with stellar games. Uzi is often regarded as the best player to never win Worlds, though he came close multiple times. Sadly, mounting health issues contributed to a retirement after the 2020 Spring Split, robbing us of the chance to see him on the biggest stage again this year. | © Riot Games
