LoL: Will Another Hotfix Save Akshan?

Truth be told, Akshan should have riled up Summoner's Rift with his hook and his ability to bring the dead back to life. But his start in League of Legends hasn't been as spectacular as everyone had hoped. Loss after loss for this new champion meant that Riot had to do something to save his plummeting win rate and that was a hotfix buff.

41%. It was even lower before the first hotfix! Even Yuumi had a better win rate upon release –and that's saying something since she is literally a squishy floating cat! Seriously, where did the Akshan go that everyone was crying about when his abilities were first revealed?

Why Was Akshan's Win Rate so Low?

The fact that his win rate wasn't the best upon release is normal. It takes time for players to get used to a champion's mechanics and their playstyle – that's normal. What isn't normal, is for a champion to have awin rate of merely 34%!

Sure, Akshan has that pesky W ability that can bring the dead back to life, but what good does it do if you can't find the scoundrel and kill them? Then you're just walking around the Rift invisible, looking for a needle in a haystack. Jeevun Sidhu, Lead Game Designer at Riot Games explained on Twitter that another Hotfix Buff will be given to Akshan, in hopes of giving this hybrid mid laner a fighting chance.

If you're worried about the revival ability becoming too OP. Don't worry. The balance team is aware of how game-breaking it could be and are moving forward with caution whenever they micropatch and buff Akshan in any way.

Another Hotfix Should Save Akshan's Release

Hopefully, these small changes to Akshan's kit will bring this Sentinel of Lightout of the darkness. Currently, he's got a win rate of 41% and even though it's better, it still isn't where you'd expect a champion like Akshan to sit.

Have you already tried out Akshan in the last few days? How have your games gone facing the Rogue Sentinel? Is his W ability really the be-all of League of Legends, or do you believe it isn't as OP as everyone originally thought?

One thing we know for sure, is that this probably won't be the last buff to come to Akshan. Maybe already in LoL Patch 11.16? Maybe later? Who knows, but this won't be the last time we write about Akshan, that's for sure.
