The 2021 League of Legends World Championship is set to take place in October later this year. Until now, we knew that the finals would be played in Shenzhen at the Universiade Sports Centre, but now Riot revealed their plans for a multi-city tour.

In Which Cities will the 2021 LoL World Championship Take Place?

A total of five host cities have been chosen for the 2021 World Championship. Players and teams will be heading to Shanghai, Qingdao, Wuhan, Chengdu and finally, to Shenzhen for the 2021 League of Legends World Championship finals.

Who is Competing at the 2021 World Championship?

Teams from 12 regions are going to be competing at the 2021 World Championship. The LPL will get to send an extra team to Worlds after winning the Mid-Season Invitational. The LCK also gets to send a fourth team due to the strength of the region, as decided by Riot games after the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational.

  • Will Dr. Mundo be making an appearance at the 2021 World Championship? Or maybe we will see champions like Yone and Akali dominate the Rift.

A total of 24 teams will be attending the event in China. Hopefully, fans will get to see the Vietnamese region at an international event again, after having missed both MSI and the 2020 League of Legends World Championship last year.

Will Fans Attend the 2021 World Championship?

According to Riot, it has not yet been finalized whether fans are going to be able to attend the events. Though, judging by last year's success in Shanghai with over 6,000 fans in attendance, we could see some fans watching the games, even if at a lower capacity.

  • Players like RNG GALA and EDG Viper can pop off and really show off their skill on the international stage. Will we see them at the 2021 World Championship?

The 2021 LoL Worlds Finals will take place at the Universiade Sports Centre in Shenzhen, which can hold over 60,000 people, but Riot is still assessing the situation to see whether a full attendance is possible for the biggest esports event of the year.

Where Will the 2022 LoL World Championship Take Place?

Originally, the 2021 World Championship was supposed to take place in North America, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Riot’s schedule had to be changed. Last year, players played the tournament in a bubble format, staying in Shanghai throughout the event.

To give Chinese fans another chance to hopefully see their favorite players live, Riot decided to repeat the event in China in 2021, thus, pushing North America back a year as well. The event will take place throughout various North American cities in October 2022 instead.
