Magic: The Gathering’s official Companion app has entered beta and now available to download on both Android and iOS devices.

After many years of players using unofficial third-party apps to measure their life totals and create tournament structures, Magic creators Wizards of the Coast have finally released an official product. Well, at least in beta, the app is not complete yet.

The program currently allows players to run tournaments at home, supporting up to 16-player brackets. Users will have to log in using their Wizards account, the same for Magic: The Gathering Arena.

MTG Companion is currently available to download and test to all owners of Android supporting version 8.0.0 or higher and iOS devices updated to version 12.1 or higher.

While the app is very much focused on paper Magic (at least for the time being), MTGA players can also benefit from it, as major esports leagues such as the Magic World Championship consist of both paper games and MTGA on electronic devices and a unified account and organization structure will increase security, clarity, and convenience.
