Assassin’s Creed Capitol: Time for a Revolution?

Since last week’s deadly attack on the Capitol Building in Washington DC, a whole lot of bizarre stuff has happened. The latest? Well, a new meme has appeared, Assassin’s Creed: Capitol. Could this be the next installment in real-life Assassin’s Creed antics? What is not to love?

YouTube and other social media platforms are awash with the latest political-slash-gaming meme, with Assassin’s Creed: Capitol circulating through all of our feeds in a rather bamboozling state of affairs. The latest trend follows last week’s deadly attack on the Capitol Building, which saw several dead and huge turmoil in the final weeks of Donald Trump’s presidency.

So, what’s the deal with this latest trend? Well, more or less, people are making Assassin’s Creed-style trailers out of footage from January 7’s events. It’s hugely funny, but for some reason they are using Tears for Fears’ classic song ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ over the top of each clip. Kind of fits the situation, hey?

Well, it might be a bit bizarre, but we are sure as hell loving it! This new entry into the memesphere has even got its own new entry on Knowyourmeme - that means it’s legit! But, can we shut up and just show you some memes? Keep your socks on, bro, we’re getting there!

One of the more classic of these memes was one posted on Reddit’s r/funny and subsequently taken down by moderators. Goes to show: Reddit doesn’t know what’s funny, anymore. Check this s**t out!

Now, here’s a clip uploaded to YouTube that turns the whole endeavor into a giant ad for the joke game. It has us in stitches, but still... what’s with that terrible version of ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’? The 80s one is actually good – use that one!

There are a ton more like this, for example, the one below serves more as a teaser than actual trailer and yet along uses... that song again? This is so confusing.

Our personal favorite is this one of Ezio climbing the Capital Building alongside rioters. It gets us every time, this stuff is absolutely pure GOLD!

Well, we’ve had our fun. Assassin’s Creed: Capitol is a great new meme to come out of a pretty terrible day. You gotta take comedy out of tragedy, don’t you? Well, we sure as hell think so, and we love laughing at new memes as they grace our phones and computer screens. It’s what we live for, isn’t it?

Anyway, it’s time to get gaming and we will leave you now. But remember: memes are life, and these are some pretty great memes. But if anyone knows why the hell they are using such a bad version of such a great song, please let us know!
