The next Arena Open cash tournament is scheduled for the next weekend – February 20-21! You can sign up, play some Kaldheim, and – if you’re good enough! – win some hard cash. Here’s all you need to know.
These days it feels like Wizards of the Coast are putting out new, flashy, and increasingly expensive products every single week! So, why not get some money from them for a change? Here are the rules of the Arena Open.
Dates & Formats
The tournament is a 2-day thing with altering rules.
DAY 1
Start: February 20, 2021 at 6 a.m. PT
Signups End: February 21, 2021 at 3 a.m. PT
Event End: February 21, 2021 at 6 a.m. PT
Format: Best-of-One or Best-of-Three Kaldheim Sealed (Your choice! Remember, you can include as many Basic Lands as you like, but only Snow Lands from your pool can be included in the deck!
You keep the cards you open
Deck Building: Open
Entry Fee: 22,500 Gold or 4,500 Gems (both Best-of-One and Best-of-Three)
Entry Reward: Phyrexian Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider card style
DAY 2
Start: February 21, 2021 at 6 a.m. PT
Signups End: February 21, 2021 at 8 a.m. PT
Event Ends: February 21, 2021 at 5 p.m. PT
Format: Best-of-Three Kaldheim Sealed
You will receive a new sealed card pool for Day 2 and keep the cards after the tournament

Entry Fee: Qualification from Day 1

Day 1 offers different prizes based on your choice of B-o-3 or B-o-1 games.
Best-of-1 (ends in 7 wins or 3 losses)
7 wins: 2000 Gems, Qualification for Day 2
6 wins: 1,600 Gems
5 wins: 1,200 Gems
4 wins: 800 Gems
3 wins: 400 Gems
0-2 wins: nadda
Best-of-3 (ends in 4 wins or 1 loss)
4 wins: 5,000 Gems, Qualification for Day 2
3 wins: 5,000 Gems
2 wins: 2,500 Gems
1 win: 1,000
0 wins: nothing but shame

Day 2 is where things get really spicy.
- 7 Wins: $2,000 USD, invitation to March Strixhaven Qualifier Weekend if eligible to participate
- 6 Wins: $1,000 USD, invitation to March Strixhaven Qualifier Weekend if eligible to participate
- 5 Wins: 20,000 Gems, invitation to March Strixhaven Qualifier Weekend if eligible to participate|
- 4 Wins: 10,000 Gems
- 3 Wins: 6,000 Gems
- 2 Wins: 4,000 Gems
- 1 Win: 2,000 Gems
- 0 Wins: No Reward
