CS2: No stickers for ohnePixel, DRILLAS eliminated out of Shanghai Major RMR

In a thrilling showdown at the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major Asian RMR, ohnePixel's DRILLAS team narrowly missed out on advancing, falling to Australian squad FlyQuest, after an intense three-map series.

The loss marks a painful end to the DRILLAS project, which had gained widespread support from fans and the community. DRILLAS, backed by Counter-Strike streamer Mark "ohnePixel" Zimmermann, fought valiantly but ultimately bowed out in a 1-2 series, that saw both teams give it their all.

DRILLAS are out of the Shanghai Major RMR!

Following a 1-2 loss to The MongolZ yesterday, DRILLAS were facing elimination against Australian side FlyQuest today.

The battle began on FlyQuest’s map pick, Anubis, where the Aussies, despite DRILLAS pushing back throughout, clinched a 13-9 win and a 1-0 series lead.

Once again, their CT-sides caused big problems for the Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk led DRILLAS side. They were now a map away from being eliminated.

However, the DRILLAS bounced back with force on their map choice of Dust 2. They completely dominated said map, gathering a 10-2 lead at the half.

Without any issues, they clinched their map pick 13-2 and tied up the series, forcing a deciding third map of Ancient.

The last map turned into one of the most unforgettable contests of 2024. The game opened with FlyQuest taking an 8-4 lead by halftime, but DRILLAS refused to go down easily.

Mounting a comeback, DRILLAS fought their way to a 12-11 advantage, earning match point.

But Declan "Vexite" Portelli had other plans and forced overtime:

After FlyQuest retook the lead at 14-12, DRILLAS then pushed back again to earn a 15-14 lead, claiming their second match point.

But once again, they fell short. Double OT was here, and so was the biggest chance DRILLAS could have had!

Incredibly, they could not close out the game, despite leading 18-15. They failed to convert any of their three match points, opening the door for FlyQuest to claw back once again.

The inevitable happened shortly after. FlyQuest broke the hearts of ohnePixel, his players and their fans. Winning the map 22-19 and clinching the series, sending DRILLAS home.

FlyQuest went on to also win the lower bracket final against Lynn Vision shortly after, earning the third and final spot out of the Asian RMR, besides MongolZ and Rare Atom. Congrats to the Aussies!

For ohnePixel and DRILLAS, this elimination means their dreams of leaving a legacy in the CS2 Major remain unfulfilled, and no team stickers will be earned.

It was a long and fun ride, which started all the way back in August, with the open qualifiers. The project, with the players not earning actual salary, only failed at the very end. Unlucky.

The German streamer will therefore not achieve his goal, of having his own sticker featured in the game.

How do you feel about DRILLAS' performance overall? Could they have beaten Lynn Vision in the deciding game?
