The MongolZ entered the quarterfinals as dark horses for a potential championship run, whilst carrying the pride of Asia with them.

MOUZ advance to the semis over The MongolZ!

The MongolZ, who had been riding a 13-game winning streak - including a victory over MOUZ in the elimination stage prior to the playoffs - saw their remarkable run come to a heartbreaking conclusion.

Despite their earlier dominance, including a series of nail-biting wins, they were unable to replicate their success against a determined MOUZ. Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, MOUZ's in-game leader, had boldly stated in a pre-match interview, "I'm not losing to them twice" - and he made good on his promise.

The first map, Ancient, was The MongolZ' choice. They looked unstoppable in the first half, with their signature T-side aggression, to secure a 9-3 lead. However, MOUZ, powered by siuhy’s tactical adjustments, clawed back into the game. The comeback culminated in overtime, with Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin delivering a masterclass performance with 26 kills. MOUZ snatched the map 16-14, dealing a psychological blow to their opponents.

With momentum firmly on their side, MOUZ transitioned into their map pick, Nuke. Yet, The MongolZ showed resilience, once again taking the first half with a 7-5 lead. But MOUZ’s defense proved unbreakable as they mounted yet another ferocious comeback. Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo, the 18-year-old Finnish prodigy, emerged as the hero of the second map, racking up 21 kills to help his team secure a 13-9 victory.

This win propels MOUZ into their first major semi-final since IEM Rio 2022. Their next challenge will be Team Spirit, in a showdown for a coveted spot in the grand final.

While The MongolZ’ exit marks a sad moment for Asian fans, their inspiring journey will be remembered as a testament to the region’s growing prowess in the CS2 scene. As for MOUZ, they now carry the hopes of their fans forward, determined to capitalize on their hard-earned momentum.

What do you think? Can this version of MOUZ even take down Team Spirit and Danil "donk" Kryshkovets on Saturday, to reach their first ever Major final?
