A years-long back-and-forth has finally come to an end. A new record has been set. But what’s behind it?

Major Update: xQc Finally Achieves The Impossible

“I am the GOAT,” shouts the Canadian streamer xQc as he finally beats the time of streamer Forsen and completes a Minecraft run faster than him. For years, he kept trying and repeatedly failed. But just a few hours ago, he finally managed to do it and he’s clearly over the moon, as this clip of him shows.

The Rivalry That Defined the Scene

The rivalry between xQc and Forsen has been one of the most watched and talked-about storylines in Minecraft speedrunning. Forsen had held the benchmark time of 15:28 since October 2023, and it seemed almost untouchable.

xQc has come extremely close many times before, repeatedly flirting with the record and improving his personal best again and again but the RNG in Minecraft repeatedly stood in his way. Now, with a final push, he finally managed to break through: his new record time is 14:27. In speedrunning, this is an insane improvement and beating a record by nearly one whole minute is a huge deal in a scene where seconds, sometimes mere frames make or break a record.

This isn’t just a personal best – it’s the moment the long-standing rivalry finally ended.

The Run That Finally Worked

The run that sealed the record wasn’t perfect. In fact, it still had the same types of issues that have haunted xQc in previous attempts but this time, everything clicked just enough to make the difference.

At first, the run looked promising, but RNG turned against him early. A key mistake was searching for the stronghold without precise triangulation, costing him valuable time. In the Nether, blaze spawns were unkind, meaning he had to spend longer than planned collecting blaze rods. Without enough rods, crafting Eyes of Ender becomes a major time sink and that’s usually where speedruns get derailed.

Still, xQc managed to keep the run alive through sheer momentum and persistence and that’s what ultimately made the difference.
