Here's everything we know so far about the Buffy reboot.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is officially in the works with a new lead, a modern setting, and some familiar faces.
Meet The New Vampire Slayer
15-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong has been cast as the new lead in Hulu's Buffy reboot. She's known for her roles in Firestarter, Anne with an E, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and will play a teenager who discovers she is the next chosen one, forced to balance high school life with the dark side of her destiny.
A sweet video shared by Sarah Michelle Gellar on Instagram shows the moment she tells Ryan Kiera Armstrong that she has been cast as the new lead in the Buffy reboot
In the clip, Ryan starts tearing up with joy and excitement. The caption of the post praises Ryan's emotional intelligence and talent, with Sarah Michelle Gellar saying she knew Ryan was the only one she wanted by her side the moment she saw her audition.
Sarah Michelle Gellar Returns
Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the original Buffy Summers, will return in a recurring role. This time, she will not be the lead but a mentor figure, helping guide the next generation of Slayers.
She is also serving as an executive producer, which might reassure fans worried about the tone and direction of the reboot. The reboot promises not to forget the original show's lore.

New Creative Team, New Perspective
The reboot is being directed by Chloé Zhao, known for her work on Nomadland and Marvel's Eternals. Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, the writers behind Poker Face, are handling the script.
Though the reboot is bringing in new characters and stories, it is still set in the original Buffy timeline, so it is not a complete reset
Joss Whedon, who created the original series, is not involved this time, likely because of the backlash he faced in recent years, which means the reboot will have a fresh creative voice.

There is no release date yet, but with the lead now officially cast, we are sure we will get a first glimpse and more casting news soon.
