YouTubers and streamers venturing into other territories like reality TV is always a guaranteed hit. Viewers love to see their favorite creator from different angles and cheer them on in competitions. The influencers themselves also profit from their appearances on TV. But a cooking influencer actually making it to MasterChef is something else. This proves it: she can really cook!

iGumdrop on MasterChef Season 16

Jamie or iGumdrop is a Twitch streamer with around two million followers across her platforms Twitch, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. She streams herself preparing food for her and sometimes her friends and posts videos with of herself cooking to music. She also publishes recipes on her website.

She has been making content for over a decade and has now decided to take her cooking straight to TV – and to one of the most famous and notoriously harsh critics of TV-chefs, Gordon Ramsay, no less.

The streamer is competing on the 16th season of MasterChef Global Gauntlet. In this version of the show, cooks from different regions fight to represent their region in a competition between America, Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific. The winning team will receive a $250,000 prize.

She broke the news of her participation to her followers via an Instagram post.

MasterChef shared a clip of the first episode of Jamie competing for the white apron on X. As she cooks her Wagyu Beef Satay, Gordon Ramsey gets into a conversation with her:

I really want to put Malaysian food on the map.

she says. Ramsay compliments her on her online following to which she replies:

I’m not here for followers, I’m here to prove myself. I’m here to prove that my food can taste good.

And Ramsay wishes her good luck.

And, like Jamie revealed in her post, she made it and was chosen to represent team Asia-Pacific as she has Malaysian roots and also cooks Malaysian food. She says she was influenced by her father’s Malaysian-style street food at home and proudly writes "DAD I GOT MY APRON".

Jamie made a wagyu beef satay with peanut sauce and coconut rice which seems to have wowed the judges who complemented the beautiful presentation and authentic, delicious taste.

Episodes of MasterChef season 16 are live on Fox every Wednesday and uploaded to Hulu the next day.
