One of the world's biggest movies of 2025 breaks US box office record.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle by Ufotable has been taking cinemas by storm worldwide since its first international screenings in September 2025.
Now the film is breaking even more records: it is not only the highest-grossing non-English international movie of all time, but also holding the record for the biggest anime movie release in the US.
The Series' Finale As A Movie Trilogy
The movie is a sequel to the anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, which is based on the manga series by Koyoharu Gotōge. It is the first part of a trilogy that serves as the grand finale to the anime series.
The series follows Tanjirō Kamado, whose family was killed by demons and whose sister was turned into a demon. After joining the demon slayers, he fights to protect humans and searches for a way to turn his sister back into a human.
Breaking Records, Including Their Own
Infinity Castle was released in US theaters on September 12, 2025, and had a very successful opening weekend, grossing a total of $70 million. This makes it the highest-grossing anime movie release in the US.
But it doesn't stop there. As the highest-grossing non-English international movie of all time in the US, it dethrones Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) after 25 years.
Internationally, Infinity Castle is the highest-grossing anime of all time. It surpassed not only movies such as Your Name and Spirited Away, but also its predecessor Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which is a sequel to the first season of the anime series.
