The final saga of Demon Slayer is about to begin and the hype seems to be bigger than ever before. The anime about the boy Tanjiro – who joined the Demon Slayer Corps after his family got killed by demons – and his friends were last seen during the Hashira Training Arc. While training arcs are usually a very straightforward yet bland way to strengthen the characters, this one came with new fun characters and an awesome cliffhanger.

This cliffhanger apparently was the perfect way to hype up the audience for what's next. The final arc will be adapted into three movies. The first of which will release on July 18 in Japan and over the next two months everywhere else. According to reports in Japan, advanced tickets were sold out after only ten minutes, which is absolutely impressive.

Will Demon Slayer Surpass Itself?

This is not the first time that a Demon Slayer arc has been turned into a movie. The fan favorite Mugen Train Arc also got its big screen adaptation and absolutely slayed at the box office (pun intended). The movie was so popular that it was the highest grossing Japanese movie of all time, even surpassing all Ghibli movies and Your Name. It also was the highest grossing movie in 2020 in general, leaving Tenet and Sonic The Hedgehog behind.

With this in mind, it's understandable that many are hyped about the new movie. If this first wave is any indicator of the movie's ongoing box office run, then it might even surpass the legendary Mugen Train Arc's success. Anime films often do well in Japan, but fans crashing websites while snatching tickets in the first few minutes is a rare sight, even for popular anime movies.

It's exciting to see this much hype around an anime movie. With all of the emotional build up in the story and the amazing quality, it's no wonder so many want to see it as fast as possible. The trailer already looks absolutely stunning and also showcases the stellar animation we can expect. While we still have to wait another two months for the films release, let's all try to avoid spoilers as much as we can!
