Brennan King, an aspiring pro cyclist and Instagrammer, set out to consume 25 pounds of oats in a single week.
An Instagram user by the name of Brennan King decided to attempt to consume and entire 25-pounds bag of oats in one week. The reason? To see if that was even humanly possible in the first place. This is no new diet-trend, just a man seeing how far he can push his own body.
9,000 Calories Of Oats In One Week
Before starting this quest, he calculated how many calories he would have to consume every day and the result was concerning: 9000 calories of oats in one day is far above what an adult should eat. But since Brennan is an aspiring pro cyclist and can spend multiple hours a day on a bike cycling hundreds of kilometres, he would actually have a good chance to make it all work out.
Though at the beginning of day 2 he mentions his bowel movements have increased, the first few days went smoothly. Between a half marathon, hundreds of kilometres on a bike and cooking all these meals with oats in them, the rest of his free time was filled with eating. To everyone's relief, however, he was making actual meals with the oats instead of just swallowing them all dry. Though that might have added some calories, it probably made the experience a lot more enjoyable.
Brennan King’s Insane Oat Challenge
Hearing about a plan like this opens up a lot of questions. First off, he did manage to eat the entire bag in a week, even though he did not manage to actually consume exactly 9000 calories of oats every single day. After he had to slow down a little, he went for a final big bike ride on day 7. He drove in loops all day long to develop a strong enough appetite and it worked – all 25lbs of oats were gone.
Will he ever consume oats again? After his successful experiment, some of his followers started asking for recipes of certain meals he ate during his challenge and he recorded himself making them. It seems safe to assume that he is in fact not tired of oats just yet.
He actually even attempted a similar challenge since: He recently attempted to consume 125 bananas in one day, but had to stop the experiment after 52 bananas because he started experiencing symptoms of potassium poisoning.
