Gimple has a lot of plans for the popular zombie Franchise.

The hit series The Walking Dead was first broadcast in 2010 and ran for a total of 11 seasons. After 177 episodes, it officially came to an end in 2022.
But that wasn't the end of the story: the original format has spawned six spin-off series to date, which continue to expand the universe and open up new perspectives.
Scott M. Gimple, writer and executive producer of the series, still sees great potential in the Walking Dead franchise. He is continuously working to further develop the world of the undead. He speaks openly about his vision for the future of The Walking Dead and gives an insight into his ideas for upcoming projects.
Exploring Continents
Over the years, The Walking Dead has grown into one of the most popular zombie horror franchises, with many spin-offs and new storylines that explore life in a dark, post-apocalyptic world. What started as a story about Rick Grimes and a small group of survivors has turned into a much larger universe.
Scott Gimple aims to always have at least one The Walking Dead project in the works so that fans can continuously gain new insights into the universe. In doing so, he also thinks far beyond the previous locations.
"There's one that we're working on that I'm very, very excited to see that we've never been before. But I'd aIso love to see it in Tokyo, I would love to see it in Africa, and I would love to see it in Iceland. I know that's a weird one, but we want to spam the globe because there's stories all over the globe. […] We want to see other characters throughout the world, and how they're faring. And we have had a lot of experiments to that." – Scott Gimple
He explained that there are still many continents left to explore, emphasizing that the story is driven by the characters’ development over time. Changing the setting, he noted, offers the writers a wealth of new creative opportunities, as the locations often help shape the narrative themselves.
Gimple makes it clear that the Walking Dead universe will not only live on, but will also be continuously expanded, both geographically and narratively. With new characters, locations, and perspectives on global survival, he continues to captivate fans.
We would definitely find it incredibly interesting to discover more places and cultures in The Walking Dead universe.
