A luxurious lifestyle, hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram and TikTok and a dental practice that looked legitimate at first glance. But according to investigators, behind the façade was a large-scale fraud. American Brandon Dillard, who presented himself online as Atlanta’s “Top Veneer Specialist,” now faces massive criminal consequences.

A grand jury in the state of Georgia has indicted him on 113 counts, including organized crime under the RICO Act, fraud, and battery.

Illegal Dental Work And Millions In Fraud

For years, Dillard is alleged to have performed dental procedures without any medical license. His focus was on so-called veneers – thin shells permanently bonded to teeth. These procedures are irreversible and require extensive dental training. According to the indictment, Dillard performed them himself despite not being a dentist or medically trained.

At the same time, he built a huge following on social media. With videos from his alleged practice, before-and-after clips, and displays of a luxurious lifestyle, he gained the trust of numerous clients. Investigators estimate that between 2021 and 2024 he generated more than four million US dollars from these activities.

A System Of Deception And Danger

What makes the case especially alarming: Dillard didn’t just practice illegally, he also sold paid training courses. In two-day sessions, he taught participants how to apply veneers themselves, complete with certificates meant to imply legitimacy. However, there is no officially recognized profession called a “veneer technician.” Several course participants now report that they were deceived and later faced legal trouble with dental boards.

According to prosecutors, the health consequences for victims are severe. People describe infections, damaged teeth, intense pain, and high follow-up costs at real dental clinics to repair the damage. Experts have been warning for years about unlicensed dental aesthetics, especially when veneers are placed over already damaged teeth.

Authorities classify the case as an organized criminal enterprise. That’s why Georgia’s RICO Act is being applied a law typically used in mafia or gang-related cases. The indictment theoretically carries a maximum sentence of several hundred years, though such a sentence is unrealistic. Still, Dillard faces the possibility of many years in prison.

The case highlights just how dangerous medical offers on social media can be. Follower counts and polished content cannot replace education, licensing, and regulation. Prosecutors are urging other victims to come forward. A verdict is still pending but the Brandon Dillard case is likely to become one of the most notorious examples of medical fraud in the influencer era.

What do you think about this case? It’s chilling to consider that someone would trust their health to a person like this.
