ASMR is a widely spread type of content around any type of video or audio focused social media platforms. Be it the TikToks with a video at the top and an ASMR video on the bottom to get that funny tingling feeling in your brain, or long video-formats on YouTube.

Everyone knows roughly what ASMR content looks like... or do we? Because famous YouTuber Gibi ASMR went ahead and did it: she made a full length, shot-by-shot recreation of the Shrek movie.

Who is Gibi ASMR?

Gibi ASMR, also known as Gina, is a 29-year-old YouTuber who primarily does ASMR content and has gained over 5 million subscribers over the years.

From silly ASMR roleplay, funny skits or cosplays, her channel has it all. Only the best for her fans to listen to as they fall asleep or simply need to relax.

She has been actively creating content on YouTube ever since June 2016, so for a total of eight years now. And during this time she has managed to create a large following, many fans are very loyal to her and enjoy pretty much all of her videos.

Gibi ASMR's Shrek recreation

Gibi and her team spent months preparing this project. Writing the ASMR scripts, creating the costumes, doing a casting, building the props, and, of course, filming and editing the entire thing together was a massive amount of work.

But with a lot of patience and help from others, she pulled it off. She even posted a video of her practicing her Shrek makeup, and updated fans about the production progress on her Instagram.

And they even got fellow ASMR YouTuber Batala's ASMR on the cast to play the role of Donkey.

The entire summer of 2024 was spent filming all the shots and lines, before they dived headfirst into the editing process. And by then, it had become a race against the clock, because Gibi was actually pretty far into her pregnancy.

In her video titled "What's in my Hospital Bag?" she wrote into the description:

"I’m like… bruh NO, PLEASE STAY IN THERE LITTLE BUDDY, WE’RE NOT DONE WITH SHREK YET… KEEP COOKING…"

Luckily, just yesterday, they managed to finally publish their shot-by-shot recreation of the Shrek movie. Time for them to take a deep breath.

Even if you are not a fan of ASMR, you should check out Gibi's video and send her a bit of love. Everyone worked hard on this project, and they deserve some recognition for it!

WOuld you watch the full movie with the ASMR version on in the background? We certainly will be!
