How Giorgio Armani conquered the fashion industry with simplicity.

Giorgio Armani is considered one of the greatest fashion designers of the 20th century. In Milan, on September 4, 2025, he died at the age of 91, surrounded by his loved ones, after he was absent from Milan's fashion week in June for the first time ever due to illness.
Until his age-related death, he remained the sole owner of the Giorgio Armani Spa fashion label, bringing him a fortune of around $13 billion. He ranked second on Forbes' list of Italy's richest people in 2023.
From Italy To Hollywood
Giorgio Armani was born Piacenza, Italy on July 11, 1934. After finishing school, he started medical school, but dropped out later and worked as a window dresser, having his initial contact with the fashion industry. He eventually became a fashion buyer as well as a boutique manager in Milan.
The years after that, he designed suits and met his future partner Sergio Galeotti in 1966. Together, they founded the Giorgio Armani company in 1975. Armani later expanded his company into areas such as perfume, cosmetics, sports and luxury hotels.
He also dressed a lot of celebreties, such as Julia Roberts or Leonardo DiCaprio, whether for their red carpet appearances or for their roles in movies.
Elegant Simplicity

Giorgio Armani is best known for men's fashion in minimalist cuts with muted colors.
Armani rejected the traditional idea of the classic suits, removed bulky shoulder pads, and focused on loose structures in his designs without compromising on elegance and style. His suits created an elegant silhouette – simple but full of class. Armani also designed pantsuits for women in the 1980s as uniforms for the working women.
Growing up living a simple life, Giorgio Armani built a billion-dollar company around himself and had a major impact on the fashion industry. His passion and unique vision are what led him to his huge success and his high standing in the fashion industry.
After his passing, people took to Instagram to honor of Armani.
