For a long time, it was just a rumor, but now it's official: Scrubs is making a comeback. Sixteen years after the series ended in 2010, J.D., Turk, and the rest of the gang are returning to television. Filming is already underway, and a first video on Instagram shows the main cast reunited on the set of Sacred Heart Hospital.

Familiar Faces And New Characters

Zach Braff (J.D.), Donald Faison (Turk), Sarah Chalke (Elliot), and Judy Reyes (Carla) are back. John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox, Robert Maschio (Todd), and Phill Lewis (Hooch) are also making a comeback.

The cast is complemented by new characters: Vanessa Bayer (Saturday Night Live) plays a wellness consultant, Joel Kim Booster (Loot) embodies the new senior physician Dr. Eric Park. A group of young resident doctors also brings a breath of fresh air to the hospital corridors.

Production With Minor Stumbling Blocks

Shortly before filming began, co-showrunner Tim Hobert resigned due to creative differences. Aseem Batra, who worked on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, among other shows, took over. Despite the change, the schedule remains ambitious: there are only a few months between the start of filming and the release.

Creator Bill Lawrence promises that Scrubs will retain its signature mix of humor, heart, and depth. The series aims to show how medicine, friendship, and the healthcare system have changed over the past 16 years told from J.D.'s usual imaginative perspective.

Start Dates In The US

In the US, the 10th season of “Scrubs” will air on ABC starting February 25, 2026, kicking off with a double episode. A total of nine episodes are planned, which will then air weekly.

First Teaser Gives A Taste Of The Revival

On November 25, 2025, ABC released the first official teaser for the new season, featuring entirely new footage. In it, J.D., Turk, and Elliot stroll through the familiar halls of Sacred Heart, encounter the new interns, and deliver the signature witty banter right from the start.

Dr. Cox, in particular, returns with his trademark sharp tongue, immediately putting J.D. in his place, while Carla steps in to tell him to leave “Bambi” alone. Fans are treated to a brief but promising glimpse of the mix of nostalgia, fresh storylines, and classic humor that the revival promises.
