Netflix drops first teaser for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein
Guillermo del Toro’s long awaited adaptation of Frankenstein is finally coming to Netflix in November 2025. The first teaser, released during Netflix’s Tudum event, gives a first glimpse at the gothic story the Oscar winning director has wanted to tell for decades.
Jacob Elordi As Frankenstein's Monster
Jacob Elordi takes on the role of Frankenstein’s creature, and the first glimpses of him are both haunting and heartbreaking. Instead of a mindless monster, he appears as a lost and grieving figure, abandoned by his creator. Oscar Isaac plays Victor Frankenstein, the brilliant but reckless scientist who creates life only to reject it. Their dynamic forms the emotional core of the film.

An All Star Cast And Beautiful Visuals
The cast includes Mia Goth as Elizabeth, while Christoph Waltz and Ralph Ineson appear in still mysterious but intriguing parts. The film’s score, composed by Alexandre Desplat, adds to the creepy and emotional atmosphere. Visually, the teaser is pure del Toro magic: dark, dreamy and rich in texture, with candlelit halls, stormy skies and haunting close–ups that look more like paintings than movie scenes.
A Gothic Tale Of Creation And Loss
At its core, the story follows Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but deeply flawed scientist who becomes obsessed with creating life. When he succeeds, he brings a creature into the world, only to abandon it out of fear and shame.
What follows is not just a tale of revenge, but a heartbreaking exploration of what it means to be unwanted, unloved and alone. Del Toro’s take leans into the emotional consequences of that rejection, painting both Victor and the creature as tragic figures trapped in their own pain.
Fans Are Already Looking Forward To It
Even though the release is still a few months away, there’s already a quiet excitement building around Frankenstein. The story is a timeless classic, and with Guillermo del Toro directing, many are expecting something truly special. The teaser has been well received so far, especially for its beautiful visuals, emotional tone and strong cast.
Gothic horror seems to be finding its way back into the spotlight. After Nosferatu last year, there has been more interest in films that feel slow, unsettling and emotionally heavy.
At the same time, a lot of people are saying they wish the film was coming to cinemas instead of streaming. With visuals like this and a timeless story, many feel it deserves to be seen on the big screen. Still, whether at home or not, the film already looks like something worth waiting for.
this going straight to streaming is a crime against humanity https://t.co/00SrBCA4vB
