Markiplier's Mom wrote a book about their family history and Mark's upbringing and it is not what you would expect.
In November of 2025, Markiplier's mother revealed her book, Markiplier from North Korea, on her Instagram account. In this book about family and history, she also goes into detail about what it was like to raise Markiplier.
Family History and North Korea
Though the book does focus on Markiplier and his upbringing, his mother also dives into the history of North Korea and South Korea, as that is important to understanding their family history. In Markiplier's video called My Mom Wrote a Book About Me she explains:
I wish to leave my legacy by sharing my family's history with you.
In the book, she talks about how her family had to flee to South Korea during the war and how she moved to America 40 years ago. Though Mark's name is on it and she does talk about his upbringing, the book is not solely about that.
"They Want To Know!" – Markiplier's Upbringing
Some people are a little surprised by some of the parts about Markiplier's upbringing. In Mark's video she already mentioned one of the points that made people pause. She says:
Don't you wonder what the [...] story was like when they were growing up? When they were little? You know what I mean? For example like the story of Buddha, story of Jesus Christ, story of Socrates?
And now, after a few weeks, people started pointing out how much his mother makes Mark sound like a new prophet. One TikToker claimed that not only does she compare her son to Buddha and Jesus in the book, she also mentions that is their family had stayed in North Korea, Mark would have replaced the current leader and more:

Though these points probably sound hard to believe to a lot of people, it is important to mention that Mark's mother made it clear that all the events in the book are told from her own perspective. She says:
It's a true story from my memory. Okay? From my experience.
Ultimately, Markiplier from North Korea seems to be a book written by a mother that clearly loves her child and isn't afraid of being very vocal about how proud she is of him.
