When most people have bad luck on Tinder, they simply delete the app. But 42-year-old Brit Nick Poninski took a much more unusual approach: frustrated with modern dating apps, he created his own website to introduce himself to potential partners.

One detail in particular quickly caught the internet’s attention: testimonials from friends and family, including a glowing review from his mother.

One-Man App: The Creative Campaign to Escape Swipe Fatigue

After years of trying Tinder and other dating apps without success, he decided to take matters into his own hands and build a personal dating platform.

On the website, Poninski is the sole candidate and introduces both himself and his concept in a short video. Alongside personal background info, hobbies, relationship goals, and contact details, the site also includes references from people close to him.

According to Nick, the website has already attracted more than a thousand visitors and led to several promising conversations. He also revealed that it has resulted in a few dates, although none of them have turned into a serious relationship just yet.

He repeatedly stresses that he is looking for a long-term commitment and says he draws inspiration from his parents, who have been happily together for decades.

His Mother Is His Best Matchmaker

Among the testimonials from friends and family, one stands out above the rest: the review written by his mother. In it, she describes her son as handsome and exceptionally caring. Unsurprisingly, this unusual endorsement quickly became one of the internet’s favorite details and highlighted the close bond between the two.

The website also features a helpful FAQ section covering his life, hobbies, and what he is looking for in a future partner.

Online reactions to the unusual dating platform have been mixed. Some users praised the idea as a creative and charming solution to a modern problem, while others dismissed the website as awkward or even desperate.

Clever PR Stunt or Genuine Search for Love?

As the story spread, many users began to wonder whether there was more to the project than simply finding a partner. One detail raised eyebrows in particular: Poninski appears to be using the exact same domain for his dating profile that was previously linked directly to his business ventures.

That quickly sparked speculation that the viral story could also serve as a clever marketing campaign for his consulting work.

So far, however, there is no definitive evidence suggesting that Nick intentionally created the website for promotional purposes. It may simply be an unconventional attempt to find the right person.

Whether Nick Poninski will ultimately find love through his custom website remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that his project has struck a major nerve. More and more people seem frustrated with traditional dating apps and are looking for alternative ways to meet someone.

While projects like Overtone are embracing artificial intelligence, Nick has chosen the exact opposite approach: relying instead on a personal website and, perhaps most importantly, his mother’s recommendation.

Do you think Nick’s website is a creative alternative to Tinder, or is it really just clever self-promotion? Let us know in the comments!
