Even more concerning: A new video could suggest that those behind the leaks may actually have access to a playable build of GTA 6.
Does The Hacker Actually Have Access To A Playable Build?
At the center of the current controversy is a group or individual operating under the name Cyberleek. Over the past few days, several unauthorized clips from Grand Theft Auto 6 have surfaced online.
Initially, it was unclear whether Cyberleek actually had direct access to a playable version of the game or had simply obtained videos from another source. However, a new clip is now attracting particular attention.
The footage features Jason, one of GTA 6's two protagonists. The player shoots at a wall with a firearm, deliberately leaving bullet holes that spell out "LEEK." This is particularly notable because "Leek" is an obvious reference to the Cyberleek name. The scene would therefore be difficult to explain as a conventional excerpt from a pre-recorded trailer.
That said, this still doesn't definitively prove that Cyberleek itself has access to the build. It remains possible that someone else has access to the playable version and is simply passing the footage along.
Fans Fear Major Spoilers
That's exactly what has the GTA community worried. If a playable version of GTA 6 really is outside Rockstar Games' control, new scenes, missions, or even major story details could potentially appear online at any time. That also increases the risk of fans accidentally stumbling across crucial plot details before the official release.
For players who want to experience GTA 6 completely spoiler-free, that would be especially frustrating. Rockstar has kept information about the game tightly under wraps so far, but these leaks could now undermine that strategy. Cyberleek Appears To Be Using The Attention For Its Own Purposes

In a manifesto published online, Cyberleek presents its actions as a protest against various developments in the gaming industry. Among other things, it criticizes the industry's growing reliance on digital releases, digital licenses, and additional content. Whether these claims genuinely motivated the attack cannot currently be independently verified. At the same time, members of the gaming community have warned others against financially supporting the group's demands or its promoted coin.
For Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, the incident comes at a particularly inconvenient time.
GTA 6 Is Coming In November 2026
That's because the release of GTA 6 is getting closer. Rockstar has officially announced that the game will launch on November 19, 2026. At launch, GTA 6 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version has not yet been officially announced for release.
Fans should also expect a full-price release. In the US, the Standard Edition costs $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99. Prices may vary depending on the edition and retailer.
Pre-orders are expected to be available, or are already available in some regions, through major retailers and the digital stores of the respective platforms. Anyone planning to play GTA 6 on release day should make sure they are pre-ordering the correct edition for their preferred platform.
Just Days Before New Official GTA 6 Information
The timing of the leaks is particularly unfortunate because new official information about GTA 6 is expected soon. On August 27, 2026, Netflix is reportedly set to showcase an extended look at the game as part of a presentation.
For Rockstar, that makes the situation even more frustrating. While fans are eagerly awaiting new official footage, they could simultaneously encounter unauthorized material online. It is also still unclear whether the footage currently circulating actually comes from a relatively recent playable build. Even if the clips are authentic, the version shown may not represent the game's final state.
