A new Jedi era is on the horizon… or at least that’s the plan.

But will New Jedi Order be the fresh start fans are hoping for – or just another shaky chapter in a galaxy that’s still trying to find its footing?

Rey’s Back – And This Time, She’s The Master

It’s been six years since The Rise of Skywalker, and Rey is returning – this time not as a student, but as the one trying to rebuild the Jedi Order from scratch. Armed with the old Jedi texts and Luke’s legacy on her shoulders, she’s stepping into the role of mentor, (hopefully) ready to train a new generation.

The setup has potential: a fractured galaxy, an uncertain future, and a Jedi Order that needs redefining. Fans are hoping for more than just lightsaber duels – they want deeper lore, a new take on Jedi philosophy, and Rey finally coming into her own.

Big Ideas, Bigger Uncertainty

Here’s the thing: while the story might sound exciting on paper, behind the scenes it's a different picture. The film has gone through several writers – Damon Lindelof, Justin Britt-Gibson, Steven Knight – and is now in the hands of George Nolfi. That’s a lot of creative turnover for a project that still has no official release date.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is still attached to direct, but news about the project has been sporadic at best. And with Lucasfilm now reportedly shifting its focus to Star Wars: Starfighter starring Ryan Gosling, fans are left wondering: is New Jedi Order even a priority anymore?

Where’s Finn? Where’s The Rest?

Another major mystery is the cast. Sure, Daisy Ridley is back – but what about the others? The idea of John Boyega returning as Finn had fans genuinely hyped, but Boyega himself has made it clear: after the way things went last time, he’s not exactly eager to suit up again.

The lack of updates around legacy characters, representation, or even the core direction of the film is leaving people feeling uneasy. It’s hard to get excited about a “new order” when we don’t even know who’s part of it.

Hopes Vs. Reality – A Galaxy In Tension

Fans want to see Rey take charge and rebuild the Jedi Order. They crave fresh lore, darker, more complex stories, and a galaxy still recovering from war. Many hoped Finn would come back as a Jedi, signaling a bold new era.

But the reality is messy. Constant writer changes, long delays, and lack of news keep fans on edge. The spotlight might be shifting to Starfighter, and key players like Boyega probably won’t return. Plus, no clarity on who else will join the cast leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

A Promise Or Just Another Tease?

New Jedi Order could be one of the most exciting and important Star Wars stories after the sequel trilogy. Rey’s return, the themes of legacy and rebuilding, all have huge potential.

But potential alone won’t carry it. Right now, the film is stuck at a crossroads. Fans want to believe, but belief isn’t enough – they need a clear vision and a reason to care.

Until then, New Jedi Order remains what it is: a big promise waiting to be fulfilled.
