In a recent stream, Pokimane gets confronted by a troll chatter and defends herself.
Throughout the years, Pokimane has had to deal with a lot of people coming into he chat attacking her for various different reasons, but this recent incident made her laugh.
Becoming A Billionaire?
A clip from a recent Twitch livestream went viral where one of her chatters called Pokimane a moody socialist billionaire, which made the streamer quickly stop in her tracks. Despite being one of the biggest and most successful female streamers on Twitch, she makes it very clear that she is not a billionaire. She states:
If you think I'm a billionaire, you cooky bean, I'm so sorry.
She then proceeds to ban the chatter immediately and follows it up by saying:
If I ever was a billionaire, I wouldn't be a billionaire for more than a day. I would give away most of my money. But I also think that's most people.
Though the statements in her clip were relatively tame, it went viral and a lot of people had something to say about it.
Backlash For Being "Performative"
The clip was quickly shared on Twitter and Reddit where a lot of people found very harsh words for Pokimane. Since it is common knowledge that big streamers on pretty much every platform make more money than the average person, people were upset with her. Especially on Reddit, a lot of comments started claiming that she is performative and something along the lines of: If she could give away most of her money as a billionaire, why can't she do that as a millionaire, too?
At this point, however, it is worth mentioning that Pokimane has actively been making an effort to give back to her community. In July of 2025, she addressed rumors about her allegedly faking giveaways, prompting her to do a whole month of giveaways every single day on her Instagram. When she announced the idea, she also stated:
Consider this my gift to the internet, since you guys have given me so much.
Ultimately, we can not know how one would truly behave if they were a billionaire. What do you think? Is the backlash justified?
