Shortly after the release of her 12th studio album "The Life of a Showgirl", Taylor Swift made an appearance on "The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon".

During the interview, Swift explains why she will not play at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Taylor Swift Responds To False Rumors

Before talking about the actual reasons behind not wanting to play at the Halftime Show, the pop star responded to the speculation that she turned down the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show due to a disagreement over ownership of the footage with a clear "No".

After comparing professional football to „violent chess“ with „gladiators without swords“, Swift shares how she feels during football season with her fiancé playing on the field that people want her to perform on, and clarifies that Travis Kelce had nothing to do with that decision she made for herself.

"I am, for the whole season, locked in on what that man is doing on the field. […] This has nothing to do with Travis – he would love for me to do it. But I’m just too locked in." – Taylor Swift

This statement suggests that Swift won’t perform at a Super Bowl Halftime Show for as long as her fiancé is still playing in the NFL.

Comments on social media show that people agree with Swift, calling it a perfectly valid reason, and cherish her honesty on the topic.

"I think that was a genuine heartfelt well thought out answer, and I fully respect her decision."
"It's his day and she wants to support him on his day instead of being busy with her performance. I think it's super thoughtful of her."
