Several women have recently come forward, accusing Jared Leto of sexual misconduct and inappropriate and manipulative behavior.
For years, Jared Leto’s strange behavior has been discussed but rarely confronted publicly. His “weirdness” was written off as edgy, his questionable actions excused as method acting. But now, new allegations are putting pressure on the long–standing discomfort many have felt around him.
New Accusations From Multiple Women
Several women have recently come forward, accusing Jared Leto of sexual misconduct and inappropriate and manipulative behavior. Some of the claims go back years, and disturbingly, a few women say they were underage when he contacted them. Jared Leto has denied all allegations, but this isn’t the first time his name has come up in these conversations.
Not Just Eccentric, Actually Disturbing
Back in 2016, Leto caught a lot of attention for what he called "method acting” during the filming of Suicide Squad. Reports claimed he sent his co–stars used condoms, inappropriate toys, and even a dead pig, supposedly to get into character as the Joker. Most people thought it was strange and inappropriate, others wrote it off as extreme method acting.
Will Smith reportedly received these items, and while some cast members defended him, others felt deeply uncomfortable. Critics claimed that kind of boundary crossing in a workplace isn’t creative, it’s deeply wrong on every level. But because it came from a famous actor playing a villain, it was dismissed.
Another Open Hollywood Secret
Within certain circles in Hollywood and online fandoms, it has long been an “open secret” that Jared Leto’s behavior around young women was wrong. Fan accounts, screenshots, and alleged DMs have circulated for years.
A resurfaced tweet from 2018 shows Dylan Sprouse publicly calling out Leto for messaging “every female model aged 18 to 25.” Director James Gunn chimed in with, “He starts at 18 on the Internet?”, hinting that Leto’s interest might’ve extended to girls even younger.
When the news of the recent accusations dropped, people online weren't surprised. Most people either already knew about it or expected this kind of behavior from someone who's been accused of doing inappropriate things for years. People are tired of watching celebrities get by with a reputation as a “weirdo” while hiding behind fame and artistic excuses. Jared Leto’s behavior isn’t just odd, it seems to be a pattern that many feel borders on predatory.
This has been common knowledge for at least a decade. Hopefully something will actually be done about it now.
