Kim Kardashian is speaking out against ICE raids, but not everyone is buying her sudden activism.
Kim Kardashian has spoken out against the recent ICE raids in Los Angeles, calling them inhumane. But while some are applauding her for using her platform, others are calling out what they see as years of silence and complicity.
Kim Condemns ICE Actions Amid Growing Protests
On her Instagram story, Kim Kardashian shared her frustration over the recent ICE operations in Los Angeles. She referred to them as “inhumane,” saying that families were being “ripped apart” and that immigrant communities deserved better. She also reposted a clip from rapper Doechii’s BET Awards speech, where the artist condemned the use of state violence and called for justice.
Her comments come at a time when public outrage is rising. Protests have erupted across California and other parts of the US, demanding an end to the targeted, brutal attacks on marginalized communities.

Social Media Accuses Her Of Being Performative
Despite the strong words, Kim Kardashian’s statements did not land well with everyone. Social media quickly exploded with backlash, accusing her of hypocrisy. People pointed to her well–documented friendship with Ivanka Trump, her praise of Melania’s fashion sense, and her infamous photoshoot featuring Tesla’s AI robots as examples of her being tone–deaf or opportunistic.
Kim Kardashian literally posted this picture of Melania Trump on her instagram story during the inauguration of Donald Trump . Now she wants to speak out against the ICE raids . Maybe she should've spoken out before and not supported the Trumps . https://t.co/0TzAocsvcR pic.twitter.com/JzXE0BHrN6

People argued that she has benefited from proximity to power and only chooses to speak up when it aligns with public sentiment. The Kardashian family has a long–standing reputation for only speaking up when it benefits them, often positioning themselves as neutral or opportunistic otherwise. Their silence on serious issues is just as calculated as their sudden activism, and many see it as part of a larger pattern of using social justice as a branding tool rather than a moral stance.
Defenders Say Her Past Does Not Cancel Out Her Voice
Not everyone agrees with the criticism. Supporters argue that there is no public record of Kardashian ever voting for Trump, and that she has used her influence in the past to push for a prison reform and clemency for nonviolent offenders. Some also point out that being friends with people who have different political views does not automatically make someone complicit in their actions or policies. Instead, they believe Kardashian should be encouraged to use her platform for good, regardless of her associations.
Being friends or supporting someone does not mean you can't call them out when they do wrong in your opinion.

Even with the pushback against the backlash, most people online remain skeptical. For some, the timing of Kim Kardashian's post feels too convenient. They argue that true advocacy requires consistency and a willingness to speak up even when it is unpopular.
And while we may never fully know whether Kim is genuine about this, where her real morals lie, or if they’ve changed over time, the message itself still matters. Whether or not this is authentic, it is undeniably a good thing that someone with such a massive platform and influence has spoken up about such horrible, inhumane injustices.
