Adam Driver wanted a movie to deal with Kylo Ren's unfinished business.

Adam Driver, who portrayed Kylo Ren in the Star Wars movies, recently pitched a movie script for a Kylo Ren standalone film to Disney, but it was rejected for an all-too-obvious reason.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Driver revealed details about a project he developed alongside American director, producer, and screenwriter Steven Soderbergh.
Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for anyone unfamiliar with Kylo Ren’s full character arc, particularly those who have not seen The Rise of Skywalker.
"The Hunt for Ben Solo"
The movie, titled The Hunt for Ben Solo, would have explored Kylo Ren’s (aka Ben Solo's) journey toward redemption and taken place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
Soderbergh crafted the story with writer Rebecca Blunt, and screenwriter Scott Z. Burns later joined the project to write the screenplay.
“I always was interested in doing another Star Wars. I loved that character and loved playing him.” – Adam Driver
But… He Is Dead, No?
Correct, in The Rise of Skywalker, the character Kylo Ren dies. Which is exactly the reason why Disney shut down the project. While Lucasfilm loved the idea of the story, Disney could simply not see how Kylo Ren is still alive.
“We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it. We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, and they said no. They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.” – Adam Driver
To be fair, Kylo Ren did get his redemption during his last appearance in The Rise of Skywalker. Still, Driver said he believed there was still some unfinished business for his character. Driver went so far as to call the project "one of the coolest (expletive) scripts" he had ever worked on. Soderbergh added:
"I really enjoyed making the movie in my head. I’m just sorry the fans won’t get to see it.”
