Iron Lung has been out for not too long and found success far beyond anything Markiplier could have ever hoped for. Now, he wants to thank the fans.
In a recent YouTube video, Markiplier got emotional about his box office hit Iron Lung. He put his heart and soul into the movie and his hard work paid off.
From An Indie Game To A Hit Movie
Markiplier uploaded a YouTube video of himself playing through the game Iron Lung for the first time in May of 2022. He was quickly inspired to make the story and lore of the world he got to explore into a movie. Now, about 4 years later, his movie Iron Lung is smashing box offices, shortly overtaking real film industry giants and placing 1st on box office charts for a day during release weekend, even above the new Melania movie. What makes this success so special is that Markiplier produced this movie independently. Now, he wants to thank the fans for their support. In one of his recent YouTube videos he gets emotional. He says:
Thank you guys so much. I really appreciate it. I really appreciate it, it's really crazy and I've said that a million times.
As he asks people to go to the theatre and watch the movie if they have time to spare, it becomes very obvious how much this project meant to the YouTuber.
Positive Reviews
In the same video, Markiplier goes into detail about how much the reviews of the movie meant to him. He states that even though he has been active on YouTube for many years and comments don't really get to him anymore, all the positive feedback for Iron Lung has touched him.
And though he has a massive fanbase supporting him, the movie does not shine only because of that. Watching the movie, you can tell that it was inspired by a video game which makes the atmosphere feel very captivating. Though with just over 2 hours runtime it is a long movie, Markiplier uses the time not only to tell a story, but also to convey a feeling. It's anxiety-inducing in the best way, mysterious and can be enjoyed even if you are not familiar with the game.
The fact that Iron Lung was made completely independently and got so successful has the potential to really inspire others. Markiplier himself states:
And maybe if it could open up a door for other people [...] to do their projects independently and know that there could be success in it, I think that'd be pretty cool.
