The lights dim, the screen flickers, and suddenly, you’re trapped in a submarine sinking into an ocean of blood. That’s the world of Iron Lung, Markiplier’s latest dive into horror, now leaping from game console to the big screen. Fans of the eerie, claustrophobic video game can finally see its terrifying depths brought to life, but in the UK, not everyone will get a ticket.

Iron Lung Movie Release

Originally created by indie developer Dave Szymanski, Iron Lung made waves for its psychological horror and suffocating tension. Players navigated a tiny sub through a vast, blood-filled sea on a remote moon, facing impossible choices with every twist. Mark Fischbach, better known as YouTube sensation Markiplier, has now adapted the cult hit into a movie he wrote, directed, and stars in. The film premiers on January 30, promising the same pulse-pounding suspense that made the game unforgettable.

But there’s a catch. The British Board of Film Classification has slapped a 15 certificate on the movie, meaning younger fans are out of luck. The rating cites strong language, bloody imagery, and intense threats. In detail, the BBFC scored it three out of five for violence and four out of five for both horror and language. Graphic injury details also earned a four out of five. In the US, the Motion Picture Association gave it an R rating, allowing teens under 17 to see it if accompanied by an adult.

Markiplier Iron Lung Adventure

The story plunges audiences into a dystopian future where planets have vanished, and the remnants of humanity cling to life aboard space stations and starships. On the barren moon AT-5, the Consolidation of Iron discovers an ocean of blood and launches expeditions to harvest its resources. A single convict is sealed into a specially designed submarine, tasked with navigating this deadly ocean. Survival promises freedom; failure ensures someone else will take their place. The stakes could not be higher.

Fans in the U.S. can even get a little extra thrill: Regal Cinemas is offering a chance to 3D print the iconic Iron Lung bucket and exchange it for free popcorn. It’s a quirky nod to the game’s immersive experience that shows Markiplier’s knack for blending horror with interactive fun.

With tickets already selling fast, Iron Lung proves that video game adaptations can be more than just flashy action. They can trap you, thrill you, and make your heartbeat echo long after the credits roll. Markiplier fans, prepare yourselves. The ocean of blood is waiting.
