81-year-old GammaCrackers gets swatted during her live stream but reacts in an unexpectedly lighthearted way.
The 81-year-old grandmother who found her passion for streaming and Minecraft got swatted during a 24/7 livestream. However, she thought the whole thing was just a great and fun experience.
GrammaCrackers Gets Swatted
GrammaCrackers, real name Sue Jacquot, is a 81-year-old Minecraft enthusiast and streamer, who had previously gone viral for streaming Minecraft to raise money for her grandson Jack Self's Sarcoma cancer treatment (who is now cancer free). Since starting her influencer career, she has gained a following of 1,361 on Twitch and 615,000 on YouTube broadcasting herself playing Minecraft and occasionally other games.
The swatting happened in the night of May 18. She was holding a 24/7 livestream and had already reached day 14 of "Not Ending Until I Beat Minecraft", according to the clock on screen, when flashlights and movement could be seen behind the curtain hanging in the doorway of the dark room. GrammaCrackers was asleep as officers entered, gun drawn, searching the premises.
"I Was Really Eating It Up, It Was Kinda Fun”
The stream continued running and Jacquot returned the next day with her grandson to explain the situation. She assures viewers that she is fine and seems more chipper than distressed.
She recounts the events saying she was asleep when SWAT showed up until they woke her and escorted her outside.
The prettiest police woman I’ve ever seen, beautiful eyes, she was so sweet. But I think she could kick butt if she needed to. She was so sweet. They walked me out, and I didn’t know what was going on, but it was kinda fun. My grandkid and my kid were hugging me, you know, you can’t get that much attention normally. I was really eating it up. It was kinda fun.
She tells viewers about her first ride in a police car as happy as if it was a theme park ride. When she returned to her home, Jacqut reports she took an ibuprofen and went to bed. Her grandson chimes in that when he came over again with police and SWAT still outside, GrammaCrackers was already sound asleep in her bed.
They thank police, saying they only did their job but the streamer can't stop raving about the officers saying she loved them and how they were "SO nice".
Shoutout for what they did.
The grandson reveals that police showed up with 20 police cars, five SWAT cars full of officers, and drones flying over the house. But GrammaCrackers just thinks she “never felt more protected” and "never had that much attention in [her] life."
When speculating about who would do such a thing, the streaming grandma and her grandson keep emphasizing that something like this is not a joke and that swatting is a felony. The grandson says it was probably someone "younger" or "not the smartest."
However, they can both laugh about the whole thing, just like the comments under the video.
Literally not even swat can stop gramma from beating Minecraft.
one says,
What I’m taking from this is that gramma fought off 5 swat agents
another jokes.
Although no one got hurt and GrammaCrackers sees this as more of a fun, exciting experience than anything else, swatting someone can lead to serious consequences and puts the influencer as well as police at risk. While the situation could have ended very differently, GrammaCrackers somehow managed to turn a terrifying swatting incident into something wholesome as she describes it as an exciting late-night adventure. Still, behind the jokes and wholesome reactions lies a serious reminder that swatting is an extremely dangerous crime – although apparently not even a full SWAT team can stop grandma from grinding Minecraft as she returned to her usual business right after.
