MrBeast Calls Out Streamer Ray After TeamWater Scam Claims

MrBeast is criticized for nearly every video in which he helps people, but when a fellow creator called Team Water a scam, he didn’t hesitate to confront him live on stream.

A while ago, a clip of the streamer Ray, also known as "asianboyray", went viral in which he claimed that MrBeast’s TeamWater project was a scam. Now, after meeting the world’s biggest YouTuber, he received an invitation rather than beef.

MrBeast Addresses Ray's TeamWater Claims Face to Face

On January 30, a clip surfaced showing an interaction between MrBeast and Ray during the Match for Hope in Qatar. During the conversation, MrBeast confronted Ray about his past claims that TeamWater was a scam. TeamWater is an initiative by MrBeast “to give 2 million people clean water for decades.” MrBeast then pressed him on whether he truly stood by those statements:

“Ray, remember that one time you said TeamWater was a scam? Did you mean that?”

Ray replied calmly:

“Yeah. I’m sorry bro, I feel like $40 million is too much.”

MrBeast appeared surprised by the response and suggested that Ray may have been “clip-framing.” However, instead of reacting with anger or frustration, he responded with an invitation:

“If you’re ever bored, I can take you to the projects. I would love to.”

Ray did not seem opposed to the suggestion, and the encounter ultimately ended with a handshake between the two.

Skepticism Around MrBeast’s Projects

Ray's doubts highlight a broader suspicion toward MrBeast’s projects. As philanthropy is increasingly used as content, it is also treated like content. It gets questioned at every opportunity, and many people doubt whether MrBeast’s efforts are even real. Since then, MrBeast has faced a multitude of accusations.

People can ultimately decide for themselves what they think about these projects, but calling something publicly a scam without any real basis or proof is, to put it lightly, poor form. Even so, MrBeast reacted in a very laid-back manner to the situation and who knows, maybe we’ll even see Ray in Africa sometime in the future.
