The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer shows Mario with new friends, enemies, and a great adventure in space.
Nintendo and Illumination have released the first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it delivers exactly what fans have been expecting: colorful worlds, epic music, and plenty of nostalgia. Following the huge success of the first Mario movie, this time the plumber is heading into space, where he will encounter new friends and dangerous enemies.
Bowser Jr. And Rosalina Step Into The Spotlight
The trailer shows Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. actively fighting Mario for the first time and playing a bigger role. Meanwhile, Rosalina makes her big screen debut, voiced by Brie Larson. As a galactic guardian, she seems to be becoming a central figure in the story. Fans will also recognize many references to the original Wii game Super Mario Galaxy in the trailer, including the Lumas and the iconic planet levels. The new faces are accompanied by familiar voices: Chris Pratt returns as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy reprises her role as Princess Peach, and Jack Black is back as Bowser, although this time he shows less fire and more fatherly pride.
Release Date & Expectations
The film is set to hit US theaters and “many other markets worldwide” on April 3, 2026, building on the success of the first Super Mario Bros. movie, which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide. Expectations are correspondingly high. In addition to impressive animation and a bombastic soundtrack, the trailer promises an emotional story about the vastness of space. Illumination seems to have once again perfectly balanced children's entertainment and fan service.
Gamer Nostalgia Is Guaranteed
Whether you've known Mario since the 80s or only entered his universe with the Switch, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie looks more than just a sequel. It's a tribute to the game's creative levels, combined with new elements and characters that take the franchise to the next level. If the trailer proves one thing, it's that Nintendo and Illumination understand what fans love: adventures with heart, humor, and a touch of nostalgia.
Departure To The Stars
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie could be the biggest film project in the Nintendo universe to date. Old heroes, new worlds, and a leap into the unknown, all this promises a galactic cinema experience that will thrill more than just fans. The countdown is on, and Mario is ready for takeoff.
