Pokimane has opened up about the heartbreaking death of her beloved cat Mimi.
Twitch streamer Pokimane has shed light on the tragic death of her cat Mimi after a fatal fall from her apartment balcony while she was live on stream.
The incident occurred on September 28 during a routine VALORANT broadcast. Pokimane abruptly cut the stream short after receiving urgent word that Mimi had been rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic.
Returning to stream later, she explained the heartbreaking turn of events, sharing that Mimi had accessed the balcony while cleaning staff were working in her apartment.
Pokimane Explains What Happened
During the broadcast, Pokimane told viewers she had no idea anything was wrong at home because she was completely focused on her stream when the alert came in.

She rushed to the clinic immediately, sharing that she realized the worst had happened the moment the veterinarian walked in. "I could just tell by the look on their face," the streamer said.
Sadly, Mimi did not survive the fall, ending an eight-year companionship that long-time fans knew well.
Pokimane initially noted that cleaners had opened the balcony door, which surprised her since that outdoor space was not part of the standard cleaning routine.
In a follow-up post on X, she clarified that the cleaners opened the glass door to air out the apartment but left the screen door unlatched. Mimi slipped outside unnoticed just minutes later and fell from the edge.
Pokimane Addresses Questions About Balcony Safety
In the wake of the news, some viewers questioned why the balcony had not been cat-proofed beforehand. Pokimane addressed the comments directly, noting her history of pet safety in past apartments.

She emphasized that the door had a built-in bug screen intended to keep pets safely inside, which had simply been left open. Devastated by the loss, Pokimane stressed that she does not want to assign blame for what was ultimately a heartbreaking freak accident.
