Pokimane explains the end of Myna Snacks and reflects honestly on creator-led businesses.
The snack brand Myna Snacks, founded by well-known streamer Pokimane, has become noticeably quiet over the past few years. Following a widely discussed launch in 2023, the company gradually faded from public view – its website, social media channels, and regular updates were all taken down. For many fans, it appeared as though the project had simply disappeared without a trace.
Now, Pokimane herself has finally shed light on what happened in a TikTok video.
The Quiet Withdrawal Of A Creator Brand
In her statement, Pokimane explains that the decision to step back was not rooted in a traditional “failure,” but rather in a fundamental conflict: the challenge of balancing life as a content creator with the realities of running a business.
As a public figure, she says she was constantly under scrutiny. Decisions that would typically go unnoticed in most startups were heavily scrutinized when tied to a creator-led brand. Over time, this pressure led her to increasingly question her role within Myna Snacks.
Eventually, she realized she could not remain the public face of the company indefinitely without creating additional complications.
The Quiet Exit From Myna Snacks
Pokimane describes her departure as a deliberate choice. She stepped away from the operational and public-facing aspects of the business, while the company itself initially continued operating – albeit with far less public visibility.
Notably, she states that she personally did not take any profits from the brand, even though it generated revenue during its operation. Instead, any potential earnings were reinvested into the team and further development.
This paints the picture of a project that remained economically active, but was gradually restructured behind the scenes before eventually being wound down.
A Learning Experience Rather Than A Failure
Rather than framing Myna Snacks as a failure, Pokimane describes it as a valuable learning experience. She says she came to understand that entrepreneurship and a creator career are two very different worlds, each with its own rules, expectations, and risks.
In hindsight, she is particularly critical of blending a personal brand with a product brand. According to her, this combination can quickly lead to the public treating the person and the company as inseparable – for better or worse.
