Post Malone has done something most collectors would probably never dare. The rapper brought his unique One Ring Magic: The Gathering card to an actual game and played it during a recent episode of Game Knights. The card is the only copy of its kind ever printed and has become one of the most famous cards in Magic history.

Post Malone Actually Played The One Ring

The One Ring was part of Magic: The Gathering's The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth set. Unlike the other cards in the set, this special version was printed just once and carries the serial number 001/001.

During a recent episode of The Command Zone’s Game Knight, Post Malone brought the card to the table and actually used it during the Commander game.
That is particularly surprising considering how much money is associated with the card. The One Ring was previously kept protected as a highly valuable collectible, but Malone was willing to take it out and use it for its intended purpose. It was still in a case, but a smaller one.

The card even comes with a remarkable story. It was originally discovered by Canadian Magic player Brook Trafton in June 2023 after opening packs from the Tales of Middle-earth set. Trafton immediately realized what he had found and eventually got in contact with Malone, who is a longtime Magic fan. Malone purchased the card from him for around $2 million.

The One Ring Is Not The Most Expensive Magic Card Anymore

When Malone bought the One Ring in 2023, the deal was widely described as the most expensive Magic: The Gathering card sale ever. That is no longer the case.

The current record belongs to an Alpha Black Lotus
in pristine condition. The card was sold privately for $3 million in April 2024, according to Guinness World Records. That puts it above Malone's One Ring by roughly $1 million.

The One Ring
still has something the Black Lotus does not, however. There is only one copy of this particular card in existence, making it one of the rarest Magic cards ever produced. And now, instead of sitting safely in a collection, Post Malone is actually putting his $2 million card into play.
