5. Puss in Boots

Considering how beloved the second **Puss in Boots** movie is, it's curious to think that the first one was so overlooked by the public and has been largely forgotten in the world of cinema. In part, I believe this is due to the early signs of milking the franchise, turning into what they swore to destroy (Disney), but the reality is that it's boring and not very entertaining. This is not the story we wanted to see from our beloved Puss in Boots. | © DreamWorks

Shrek 4 — 4. Shrek Forever After

Although **Shrek Forever After** might be the least funny of the four main films in the saga, I also think it brings us one of the most interesting plots in the series. It’s about an adult Shrek, now with children, who is suffering from a midlife crisis and just wants to relive the past days of glory. Also, personally, I like Rumpelstiltskin, but it's clear they were trying to recreate the brilliance that was Lord Farquaad, and not with much success. | © DreamWorks

Ah, **Shrek 2**, how I love you. Personally, it's my favorite in the series, but since we're aiming to be objective, I'll say it's not on par with the next ones. However, it's a fun story with many twists, introducing new characters that turn out to be pivotal in the saga, and jokes that are as iconic as they are memorable. The reason so many people love **Puss in Boots: The Last Wish** lies in its underlying message, which no other Shrek character could have conveyed better than the dashing and daring, swashbuckling feline. After all, it's about laughing in the face of death, only to realize how terrifying and inevitable it is... and maybe that's exactly why we shouldn't fear it. None of them compare to **Shrek**. Not only because of its behind-the-scenes mythology, where it beat Disney to win the first-ever animation Oscar in history and represented a great victory for DreamWorks, but also because as a concept, it's as straightforward as it is fun. It's a road movie, an adventure, an action film, a drama, and a comedy all in one, with characters who, despite their low-brow humor and hyperactivity, never become annoying or tiresome. Really, we will never have another movie like Shrek... Unless the next one surprises us. | © DreamWorks
