With Jurassic World Rebirth comes more than just a great movie: for Scarlett Johansson, her role came with a new record.

Scarlett Johansson seems to have a sixth sense for taking on roles in movies that smash the box office – with a strong opening weekend of $318 million for Jurassic World Rebirth, the actress can now officially call herself the highest-grossing actor of all time.
According to The Numbers, her latest endeavor in the dinosaur franchise was just what she needed to leave her colleagues Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr. behind.
Highest-Grossing Lead Actor In Hollywood With Only Half The Acting Credits
For clarity's sake: Scarlett Johansson's newest title in the Hollywood world doesn't mean she's the highest-paid actress out there (pretty sure she doesn't need to worry about bills, though). But, and that's also quite the feat, it means that she has starred in a lead role or as part of the main ensemble in movies that absolutely smashed the box office – more than anyone else.

Adding up to over $14.8 billion dollars (and counting) with movies like Avengers: Endgame, Captain America: Civil War, The Jungle Book or Lucy, she took the crown from Samuel L. Jackson (who still boasts a staggering $14.6 billion over the course of his career) after Jurassic World Rebirth's opening weekend. Trading third place with Johansson is Robert Downey Jr. – Marvel makes for box office gold, alright.
Even more impressive for Johansson, though? She did so with 36 movies contributing to the record. Samuel L. Jackson boasts 70 for the second spot on the list, Robert Downey Jr. has 45 movies in the lead ensemble under his belt for $14.3 billion. Less movies, more earnings at the box office – Johansson's now officially the definition of girlboss.
The ranking isn't set in stone, though. During the run of the newly released Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson might just reach the $15 billion mark as the first actor ever, but that doesn't mean her colleagues are sleeping. With the three top spots relatively close together when it comes to box office success, it takes just a single movie to shake things up again – as long as it isn't another Avengers movie with all three of them in it, that is.
