At the San Diego Comic Con, Nickelodeon finally revealed more about the third entry in the element-bending franchise.
Nickelodeon has been working on a new show in the Avatar franchise for some time now. In February, they finally announced the next entry called Seven Havens. Now at the San Diego Comic Con, they revealed an image of the show, showing the main character Pavi, her pet Geet and her mentor Jae. In the background we see the their home turf Allura.
What's most exciting is that Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will return to lead the new project. They were also the creators of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra. With that in mind, it might be safe to say that the Seven Havens is in good hands. But what is the show about?
What We Know So Far
The show takes place in a post-apocalyptic era after The Legend of Korra. The world is under destruction from a cataclysmic event, apparently somehow caused by Avatar Korra. This killed her, sent everything out of balance and humanity split apart in seven havens. A young earthbender named Pavi finds out that she is the new Avatar – but now, the Avatar is seen as humanity's destroyer, not its savior.
Pavi is hunted by both humans and spirits alike. She is accompanied by her mentor, her monkey cat and her long-lost twin sibling. It is unclear if both twins have the power to bend all four elements. Together, the twins uncover their origins and links to the Avatar cycle, and try to find a way to save the world before the seven havens collapse entirely.
Interesting Visuals
Many fans have mentioned the shows' looks. You'd think a post-apocalyptic world would look dreary and grim, but visually, the show seems magical and adventurous, which is a fun contrast to the setting. The creators of the show have also stated that they wanted to give each entry in the franchise its own unique look and feel.
The show will have 26 episodes, split up into two seasons. This means that Seven Havens will be the shortest entry in the Avatar franchise. While there is no release date yet, this isn't the only Avatar related project we can be excited for. On October 9 2026, an animated movie will come out that tells the story of Aang and his friends all grown up, after the original show.
