A Twitch streamer's birthday party ended in tragedy after a deadly mass shooting.
What started as a large birthday celebration for Twitch streamer NateDeBaiits ended in tragedy. A shooting at the event in California left one man dead and six others injured.
Streamer's Friend Killed in Shooting
The party took place on the evening of July 25 in a field near Morgan Hill, California. According to authorities, it was a pop-up event organized through social media, with the exact location only being shared a few hours before it began. Around 300 people attended the celebration.
Shortly after 10 PM local time, the situation escalated. Multiple gunshots caused panic as guests rushed to flee the area. One man died at the scene, while six others were taken to local hospitals with gunshot wounds. Four of the victims remain hospitalized, according to authorities. The suspected shooter has not yet been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
The victim was later identified by his family as Desiderio “Desi” Romero V., also known as “Pepper.” Romero was a close friend and former classmate of NateDeBaiits.
NateDeBaiits Speaks Out After the Tragedy
Following the incident, NateDeBaiits shared an emotional message on Instagram. He offered his condolences to Romero's family and wrote that the tragedy still “doesn't feel real.” He also stressed that the violence was completely beyond his control. According to reports, the streamer received numerous threats after the shooting and announced that he plans to leave San Jose.
Authorities continue to ask anyone who attended the party to provide photos, videos, or any other information that could assist with the investigation. At this time, investigators believe a single handgun was used. No motive has been announced, and no suspect has been identified.
