Sweet Victory is probably one of the most iconic songs in animation history. The anthem first released in the classic "Band Geeks" episode of the second SpongeBob season. How long ago was that? 2001. You probably weren't even born yet.

Since the song and episode released, fans have wanted to see Sweet Victory on the big Super Bowl stage, but to no avail. Hell, even a petition to perform the song at the 2019 Super Bowl with over 1 million signatures wasn't enough. Until now.

Sweet Victory has finally made it to the Super Bowl. This year, Las Vegas shared its hosting duties with Bikini Bottom, thanks to Nickelodeon. The Super Bowl LVIII kicked off with a SpongeBob segment, giving fans a rundown of the lead up to the biggest sporting event in North America.

Not only did SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy get to join the broadcast to kick-start this year's Super Bowl, but SpongeBob also had the chance to stand on stage and perform his iconic Sweet Victory anthem to get everyone watching on CBS excited. Taylor Swift, who?

CBS who aired the Super Bowl are owned by Paramount, who in turn also own Nickelodeon, which is how SpongeBob managed to sneak his way onto the show ahead of the big game.

While this wasn't the halftime show, it was a moment for the ages, since fans of SpongeBob and football have been dreaming of this combination for ages. Now that the Millennials, who grew up with SpongeBob, are in charge, they're making their dreams come true, it seems.
