If you haven't checked your refresh rate settings, maybe it's time to do so. Otherwise it could be that you're playing on graphics settings that are actually way too low. Just like the streamer Northernlion.
Many of you might know this: you're playing games on your computer, and you change one graphics setting and your whole life changes, because suddenly everything looks so incredibly good. The same happened to Northernlion. The streamer was playing on 60 Hz for years.
165HZ And His Life Changes
It was a coincidence that Northernlion noticed his refresh rate setting in the first place. While playing Counter-Strike, a Steam notification popped up, telling him that his monitor has a 165 Hz mode but is running on 60 Hz.
He asked his friends, who were in a voice chat with him, if that was good. One of them answered, short and sweet: 'It’s going to change your life for the better.'
Northernlion goes on to change the settings, and as many of you may know, this ended resulted in much clearer and smoother graphics overall. Can you remember the first time you put your graphic settings to the highest point?
I certainly can, and the first time you see it, it feels kind of life-changing. Northernlion felt the same; after years of playing on a low refresh rate, a new world opened up for him.
Oh my God, is this what it looks like for you guys? For ten years! It looks so good, man! This looks incredible; it looks like I just got a PlayStation 7!
In Northernlion's defense, the same thing happened to me when I upgraded my PC setup and got a new monitor. And to be honest, it felt the exact same way to me when I first launched a game with the adjusted settings.
So for any of you who thought you were alone with this funny little fail, nope. This happened to a lot of people.
