He fell three stories, broke his skull, lost his vision – and still made it to the top 0.5% in League of Legends.

Ever got a report for asking an inting player if they had brain damage? Twitch streamer NoArmWhatley fell from a third-story window and suffered a traumatic brain injury, leaving him with severely impaired vision and a long list of brutal injuries. But instead of quitting, he made a jaw-dropping return to the Rift, climbing into the top 0.5% of players while barely being able to see the screen. With humor, resilience, and a bizarre eye trick that stunned even his doctor, Whatley turned tragedy into triumph. Here’s everything you need to know about this mad man.
Streamer Crashes, Still Climbs Ranked
In August 2024, NoArmWhatley vanished from Twitch without a word. Weeks later, he returned with a shocking X post: he had fallen from a third-story window while trying to close it. The frame gave out, sending him crashing headfirst to the ground. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, including an acute subdural hematoma, multiple fractures, and had to undergo a craniotomy – an intense surgery where doctors literally opened his skull to release pressure. Still, after waking up from a coma, his first thought was: “cannot f****** wait to play League of Legends.”
Going into detail about why I was in a coma + making TIER LIST for my injuries. TL;DR: I fell three stories out of a faulty window that broke while I was closing it. I broke my head open as well as many more injuries I will list and tier in the video. INJURIES: - Traumatic... pic.twitter.com/51TTDcszSP
He shared his injuries in the most gamer way possible – by ranking them in a tier list. On X, he listed brain bleeding, a broken skull, and sudden baldness in the S-tier. He also mentioned a possible permanent loss of taste – though let’s be honest, the man plays League, so that tracks.
Blindness, Blinking, and Big Plays
Today, NoArmWhatley is reportedly 80% blind, with most of his central vision blocked due to hemorrhaging in both eyes. But quitting League? Not an option. He’s an OTP – One Trick Pony – who mains Tahm Kench, and somehow, despite his vision loss, reached the top 0.5% of players in Europe. He says he relies on peripheral vision and muscle memory to navigate the Rift. “Said this before but I animation cancel it,” he explained to a curious viewer.
His workaround is nothing short of wild. If he blinks and flicks his eyes upward on the same frame, he propels the blood in his eyes downward – temporarily clearing his vision. “Gives me a few seconds of clear sight,” he said, “really good for teamfights and 1v1s.” His eye trick was so effective, even his doctor was stunned. So do you need brain damage to enjoy League, or a brain so big they have to open your skull to release the pressure? Future philosophers will have a field day with that one.
