A Minecraft theme park is being built near London, aiming to immerse visitors in the world of Minecraft. It's scheduled to be completed and ready for our visit in 2027.

Minecraft World

Minecraft is one of the most well-known and popular video games ever. Not only as a game itself, but also on YouTube, where countless people have uploaded Minecraft videos and even more watch them.

Since 2021, Super Nintendo World has demonstrated how successful video game-themed theme parks can be, so it was probably only a matter of time before Minecraft got its own.

The Minecraft theme park Minecraft World is scheduled to open in 2027 as part of the existing Chessington World of Adventures amusement park, which already features a Jumanji-themed area. Located approximately 30 minutes from London, it will cater to both international and local visitors.

The plans for a Minecraft park were first announced in November 2024, but now the project is becoming a reality. Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments are collaborating on the project, which represents an investment of approximately $67 million.

The theme park is designed to feel like entering the Minecraft world for the very first time. To achieve this, the park draws inspiration from the game's most iconic biomes, mobs, and items, all rendered in the iconic blocky style. One concept drawing, for example, depicts mobs like pigs, creepers, and zombies, while another shows passengers riding along a series of TNT blocks.

But the highlight will be the world's first and only Minecraft roller coaster. In addition, there will be various other attractions, games, themed restaurants, and shops.

To make the whole thing as authentic as possible and meet the high expectations of the players, parts of the park were first built in-game and discussed with the Minecraft community. The project leaders also collaborated with well-known Minecraft creators such as Grian, Aimsey, DanTDM, and LDShadowLady to convey the right Minecraft feel, as Kayleen Walters, head of Mojang Studios, told the BBC.

You can watch the trailer for the park here.

When the Minecraft theme park was first announced in 2024, an American one was also predicted alongside the British Park. However, no information about this is available yet.

The Minecraft community is hyped and can hardly wait to visit the park. Many fans, especially European ones, are also happy that this theme park will finally be located outside of America or Japan. Not only is there going to be such a park at all, but the fact that the developers are collaborating with the Minecraft community also raises hopes that the park will be really cool.
