MoistCr1TiKaL calls out Rockstar’s PR after the massive GTA 6 leak.
Rockstar Games has finally addressed the massive GTA 6 leaks, but its statement hasn't convinced everyone. YouTuber MoistCr1TiKaL
has now taken aim at the company's response, particularly Rockstar's claim that supportive messages from fans have meant a lot to the development team. Rockstar described the leak as “heartbreaking” and apologized that fans had been able to see gameplay before the studio was ready to show it. The company also asked players to remain patient and wait for the official release on November 19.
MoistCr1TiKaL Says Rockstar Isn't Reading Your Emails
The biggest target of his criticism is Rockstar thanking fans for their supportive messages. The company claimed that the community's words had meant “more to this team than you can imagine.”
MoistCr1TiKaL strongly disagrees with the sentiment behind that statement. He argues that a multi-billion-dollar company like Rockstar isn't personally reading all the emails and messages sent by its fans.
He does acknowledge that individual developers may have seen some of the positive messages. However, he believes Rockstar is using feel-good language to create the impression that the corporation itself is closely following everything its community says.
For MoistCr1TiKaL, the problem isn't that Rockstar apologized. In fact, he believes the studio is probably being sincere when it says the leak has been frustrating for the developers who have spent years working on GTA 6.
His issue is that the statement combines that genuine frustration with what he sees as unnecessary PR language.
GTA 6 Could Still Be A Massive Success
Despite his criticism, MoistCr1TiKaL doesn't believe the leak will destroy GTA 6. If anything, the enormous amount of attention surrounding the leaked footage could generate even more excitement for the game.
He is more concerned about potential story spoilers. With leaked footage continuing to circulate and websites reporting on it, even players who deliberately avoid social media may eventually encounter information they didn't want to see.
MoistCr1TiKaL also questions Rockstar's wider strategy surrounding the game. He points to the decision to premiere the new extended look through Netflix as another example of GTA 6 being heavily monetized.
The delayed PC release also comes under scrutiny. MoistCr1TiKaL argues that releasing the console version first could potentially encourage some players to purchase GTA 6 twice: once on console and later again on PC, particularly because of the modding possibilities and GTA's huge roleplay community.
Ultimately, MoistCr1TiKaL isn't predicting the downfall of GTA 6. Quite the opposite: he expects the game to be an enormous success. His criticism is aimed more at the way Rockstar communicates with its audience and presents its commercial decisions as being purely “for the fans.”
